Government to Introduce Statutory Sick Pay Scheme

The government plan to introduce a Statutory Sick Pay Scheme over a 4 year period starting in 2022.
In year 1 of the scheme employers will be required to pay an employee for up to 3 sick days in a calendar year, paid at 70% of the normal pay rate.
This is potentially a significant financial cost to your business, so it is wise to begin planning for this change today!
While employees, and indeed managers & owners genuinely become ill from time to time, a good place to start is your employee contracts, staff handbook, and company policies around absenteeism.
