Major fire destroys Glenisk Plant
Recently, there was a major fire that totally destroyed the Glenisk Yogurt Factory in Tullamore, Co. Offaly.
Vincent Cleary, the Managing Director spoke to morning Ireland and explained:
“I thought it was a drill at first, but it was the real thing. I think the training saved a lot of lives yesterday.”
This shows the huge importance of having a robust fire safety plan in place in case of an evacuation. It will save lives in the event of a fire in your workplace.
1. Ensure you have an Emergency Fire Evacuation in place.
2. Choose and train a Fire Warden to conduct training with your staff on the evacuation process, carry out training & fire drills regularly.
3. Book Fire Safety Awareness Training with all staff members & refresh this training each year.
